It is important to first understand that The Starkitty Project is not a normal rescue organization dedicated to moving loads of kitties through it, in effort to help sustain the organization. Nor does the Starkitty Project endeavor to collect kitties in need from other locations or kill shelters. There are many other organizations and shelters out there, should you desire a new kitten. The Starkitty Project specializes in abandoned adults only.

 

The Starkitty Sanctuary was created between 2002 and 2003 when four feline birthings occurred at the location where telepathic channelings were taking place. This was a phenomenon resulting from the channeling efforts. The animals came to be heard and healed. Each of the Starkitty felines chose on their own to come to the Starkitty location. Some came many years ago and had severe psychological wounds and emotions to heal out, from their experiences on the street. Some have physical issues. Some will be extremely shy at first and yet very friendly when they come to ultimately trust you. Some won't do well with children. Some need a buddy to go with them in order to feel complete and safe in the world. Two of them are considered 'untouchables' or 'adoptable' by the shelter industry. Most would never even make it to a store adoption center to sit in a window to be viewed. Most are in the age range of 14 to 16 years, although there is a 5 year old on board at present.
 

At the Starkitty Sanctuary, each of these felines has had a chance to settle in and feel safe in their environment. They all reside together in harmony as a group in an open home environment and yet have a daily routine which includes going to bed at night in their individual rooms where they are paired or grouped. Preferred interested individuals are adults who are holistic minded or Eco-Earth oriented, and who can provide a calm and stable environment, or who can offer extraordinary patience in allowing a Starkitty a few months to acclimate to their new home. Needy, impulsive humans need not apply! 

 

All Starkittys go out on a trial basis, and can be returned should the new environment not work out. There is a donation fee of a suggested $250.00 for each feline. This fee helps to fund the remaining Starkittys (food and medical) and keeps immature and impetuous humans at bay. There is ZERO profit in this exchange. All adoptions are done very carefully, and very, very thoughtfully and there is a home inspection process to ensure that the new environment is safe. There is an application form. There will be reference checks. All adoptions are to be to NJ homes only.
